"Taking Yourself to the Next Level"

The Monthly Newsletter from Don Sardella, Business Development Coach for Financial Advisors – May 2008

To all our highly valued clients and acquaintances:

Take All the Training You Can Get

An Investment That Precedes a Dividend

Many of you have heard this refrain before and are already actively engaged, within your firm, your industry and beyond. I am not advocating that you become a seminar junkie. On the contrary, I am suggesting that you get yourself to the best quality training that you can access - to learn, to stay fresh and current, to network, to roll up your planning sleeves, to actively reinvent/improve yourself/your business, to energize yourself to be inspired to implement/follow-through/execute and to give more vibrancy to your process.

For this month, I want to simply share a few affirmational snippets and distinctions that I picked up from a few such educational events that I recently attended with colleagues.

From the FranklinCovey Greatness Summit in San Francisco, CA on May 8th

www.franklincovey.com

Great leadership is the equivalent of breathing – the soft stuff is the only stuff.

“A life not lived for others is not a life well-lived.” John Wooden

“All grand strategies eventually degenerate into work” Peter Drucker

Great people are those who can make others feel great.

Visit www.jimcollins.com for some more good ideas.

From Brian Tracy’s Success Summit in San Francisco, CA on May 9th

www.briantracy.com

Future intent determines present action – make a decision to earn more.

How much you like yourself is key – people like to buy from people who like their work – talk to yourself the way you want to feel – makes endorphins, nature’s Happy Drug.

Most important part of today? What you do afterwards – be intensely action oriented.

Can not lose from taking action – be wired to take action, to take action, to take action…

Every time you try something new, it doesn’t work? Try any new idea 5-10 times first.

Thoughts are causes – conditions are effects and mirrors of our inner world – we all have the freedom to control our thoughts – we become what we think about most of the time.

How? (critical word for successful people) to go forward on all they are committed to 3 biggies a) learn more things b) try more things c) persist longer (absolutely determined).

Probabilities are everything – can influence and shape the probabilities of your life.

Major reason people fail in life? They do the fun and easy versus the hard and necessary.

If you don’t know or listen to this and your competitor does, you don’t stand a chance.

Strive to double your income and double your time off – stomp on your accelerator.

All great dreams/fantasies come true if you hold on to them long enough and hard enough.

What if it doesn’t work? Just give it a try – our doubts and fears are our worst enemies.

The faster you move toward your goals, the faster your goals move toward you.

Best goals are 1 year goals – top 3% have a list of goals – everyone else works for them.

Once you set & achieve important goals, it reshapes you. Have an Excellence Orientation.

Do good, get better , be the best – work on your craft everyday – keep asking yourself: “What one skill, if I were
excellent at it, would help me the most to double my income?”

All sales skills learnable – probably only one skill away from doubling your income.

Do more of what’s working and less of what’s not working – a strategy of pre-eminence.

Must be equal to or better than your best competition. Keep training yourself for mastery.

Retirement Planning Today in Walnut Creek, CA on May 13th

Are you implementing the obvious? Aka the simple – don’t want to complicate this.

Outliving your money is #1 fear in US – 38 million retirees not living the way they want.

Once you get your system going, it’s maintenance – what do you like to do? Have to do?

In conclusion…

So there is a menu of ideas that you can draw from and make work for you.
More importantly, find or make ways to keep yourself vital and in highly effective action.

We appreciate our relationship and we thank you for keeping us engaged and allowing us to do our best to be of service – til the next time we speak, meet or connect, we are…

Always looking to serve you with productive and revenue generating ideas.
